Smart Growth

County controlled tax money should be used in a wise way, to support growth that could otherwise not occur.  Not to support private enterprises that have other viable sources of funding and support.  We should support the businesses that are already here and make sure new development makes sense. In terms of open space, community desires, and the local economy.

Alternative Energy

In the long run, hydrocarbon fuel will become more and more expensive, and to the extent that the county services rely on these fuels, the counties costs will increase.  If we invest, diversify and use other sources of fuel, this could result in a saving, lack of increase, or reduction compared to what would happen otherwise.  These are the right steps for the future, and we must start implementing these plans now.

Health Care for All

With medical coverage creeping out of reach of most middle class individuals; I believe that Salt Lake County should help their employee provide coverage to their loved ones, no matter who they are.

Democratic Majority

We must have a Democratic majority on the County Council.  The current council has been successful in many things, but it is not enough.  Salt Lake County residents deserve what a Democratic majority can accomplish.
